Privacy Policy for Poddington

Last updated: 22 October 2026

The short version

Poddington collects nothing and sends nothing to me. There’s no account, no ads and no analytics. Your shows and your place in them sync through your own private iCloud, which I can’t read.

What Poddington collects

Nothing.

What is stored, and where

On your device: the shows you follow, their episode lists, where you are in each episode, and your settings (Home layout, topics, skip intervals, playback speed).

In your own iCloud: the shows you follow, which way each one plays, where you are in each episode, and your settings, so they’re the same on all your devices signed in to your Apple Account. This uses Apple’s CloudKit private database and iCloud key-value storage. That data is between you and Apple; I can’t see it, and Apple’s iCloud terms apply. You can remove it in Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Storage → Poddington.

What Poddington connects to

Podcast feeds and audio from the shows you follow, fetched directly from the podcast’s host, the same as any podcast app. Those hosts see an ordinary request from your device.

Apple’s public podcast directory and charts (itunes.apple.com), for search, show ideas and Discover. Discover’s matching happens on your iPhone; nothing about what you listen to is sent anywhere.

Tips

“Sponsor an episode” is an optional tip through Apple’s In-App Purchase. Apple handles the payment; I receive no payment details. The app keeps a count of tips on your device so it can say thank you.

Children

Poddington isn’t directed at children and collects nothing from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
